Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 October 2026

These terms govern your use of Daftar ("the app"), operated by Ali Mneimneh ("the operator", "we"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What the app does

Daftar lets you record or upload lecture audio, photos of the board and course materials, and uses third-party AI services to produce transcripts, notes, summaries, answers and flashcards. It is a personal study aid.

Anyone can create an account: enter your email address and sign in with the one-time code we send you. Your account is for you alone — don't share sign-in codes or let others use your session. Each account has weekly limits on the AI features (they reset every Monday, Beirut time), which may change.

2. Your responsibilities when recording and uploading

You are solely responsible for the audio, files and text you record, upload or type into the app. In particular you confirm that:

  • you have obtained any permission required to record or photograph a lecture or conversation — including your instructor's permission where your institution or the law requires it, and the consent of the people being recorded or photographed where applicable;
  • you hold the rights, or have permission, to upload any slides, readings or other materials, and that doing so does not breach copyright or your institution's rules;
  • you will use recordings and generated material for your own personal study and will not publish, sell or redistribute them without the rights-holder's permission.

See the Recording Consent & Academic Use Notice, which forms part of these terms.

3. Academic integrity

The app is a study aid. It does not replace attending class, doing the reading or completing your own work. You must follow your institution's academic-integrity rules, including any rules on the use of AI tools, recordings and shared notes. You are responsible for checking whether using the app is permitted in a given course.

4. AI-generated content

Transcripts, notes, answers and flashcards are produced automatically by AI models and may be incomplete, out of context or wrong. They are provided for convenience only. Always check important details against the original lecture and official course materials. We make no promise about the accuracy of generated content.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use the app to:

  • record people without the consent required by law or policy;
  • upload unlawful, infringing, defamatory or private material you have no right to use;
  • attempt to bypass access controls, rate limits or quotas, probe or attack the service, or use it to attack others;
  • automate or resell access, or use the operator's AI credit for anything other than your own study;
  • share the access code, or post anything in Questions & answers that is abusive, private, or not about the app (questions are visible to every student; we may hide or remove them).

We may limit, suspend or block access (including by pausing your account, or by IP address or password) if we reasonably believe these terms are being breached or the service is being abused.

6. Your data

Your study material is stored on your own device, as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for backing it up (You tab → Storage & backup → Export backup). We are not responsible for loss of data stored on your device or browser.

7. Third-party services

The app relies on Deepgram and Speechmatics (speech-to-text), Anthropic (AI generation), Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (sign-in emails), Paddle (card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments) and Whish Money (Whish transfers in Lebanon). Their availability and terms are outside our control, and the service may be interrupted or changed if they change. If you use your own API keys, you are responsible for those accounts and their costs.

8. Paid plans and codes

The app has a free plan with a small monthly allowance of AI features, and paid plans (Student, Pro) with a larger weekly allowance, billed weekly, monthly or yearly. Prices are shown in the app before you pay, in US dollars.

  • Paying. You pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all these orders: Paddle takes the payment in its own secure checkout, adds any sales tax or VAT your country requires, provides all customer service inquiries about the charge and handles returns. The Paddle Buyer Terms apply to the payment itself. We never see or store your card, wallet or bank details — only that a payment of a given amount was made, its reference, and what it bought.
  • Paying by Whish (Lebanon). In Lebanon you can instead send the price in US dollars from your Whish Money app to the Whish number shown on the Plans page, then confirm it in the app and on WhatsApp with your Daftar email. That payment is made to Ali Mneimneh directly, not through Paddle. The plan switches on once we have seen the transfer, usually within a few hours; until then it shows as pending. We see the sender name or number Whish shows us and the amount, nothing else.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically. A plan bought by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay is a subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period (a week, a month or a year, as you chose) at the price shown when you subscribed, and Paddle charges the same card or wallet, until you cancel. We will tell you in advance, by email, of any change to the price of a running subscription; the new price applies only from the next billing period after that notice, and you can cancel before it does.
  • Free trial. When you first subscribe to Student or Pro monthly or yearly by card, we may offer you a 14-day free trial before you pay. You give your card, Apple Pay or Google Pay at checkout, nothing is charged that day, and you get the plan for 14 days. At the end of the trial Paddle charges the plan's price shown at checkout and the subscription then renews as above, unless you cancel before the trial ends (You → Plans → Manage or cancel, or the link in Paddle's email); if you do, nothing is charged and the plan stops when the trial ends. We email you a few days before the trial ends. One free trial per person: it isn't offered to accounts that have paid before, had a trial, or that we reasonably believe belong to someone who already had one.
  • Cancelling. You can cancel any time: in the app under You → Plans → Manage or cancel, through the link in any Paddle receipt, or by emailing us. Cancelling stops all future charges. You keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then the account moves to the free plan. If a renewal payment fails, Paddle tries again for a while; the plan stays on until the end of the paid period, and stops if no payment goes through.
  • One subscription at a time. To move between Student and Pro, cancel the current subscription and then subscribe to the other plan; the new plan starts on the day you buy it.
  • Paying by Whish is one-off. A plan paid by Whish transfer runs for its week, month or year and then stops; it never renews and nothing is charged again unless you pay again. Paying again for the same plan while it is running adds to the end of it.
  • Top-ups (no longer sold). Top-ups of extra AI calls bought before 15 October 2026 stay on your account: they are used only once a week's allowance is finished, and do not expire.
  • Early sign-up month (closed). Some people who signed up before 1 October 2026 were given the Student plan free for 30 days; this is no longer offered. That free month has no cash value, can't be transferred and does not renew; afterwards the account moves to the free plan unless you buy a plan.
  • Codes. A code grants a plan for the length printed on it. Each code works once, cannot be exchanged for money and may be cancelled by us if it was obtained fraudulently.
  • Refunds. Ask within 14 days of a payment, including a renewal, and we will refund it in full, as long as you haven't used more than the Free plan gives since that payment (for example a 3rd lecture upload or an 11th question); after that, the payment can't be refunded. Refunds go back the way you paid (card payments through Paddle, Whish payments by a Whish transfer back to you); the plan time or top-up it bought is then removed, and a refunded subscription is cancelled so it is not charged again. If a payment goes through but the plan does not appear within a day, contact us with the payment reference and we will put it right. The full Refund Policy has the details.
  • Changes. We may change prices and what plans include for future purchases. A period you have already paid for keeps what it included on the day you paid. For a running subscription, see the notice above.
  • AI models. Daftar uses third-party AI models (currently Anthropic's Claude) for every plan. We may change which models are used as the providers change theirs.
  • Allowance, not ownership. A plan buys a weekly allowance of AI processing on the operator's accounts with the providers in section 7. It is not a right to any particular output, and the limits in section 5 still apply.

9. Availability, changes and termination

The free plan is provided "as is", and paid plans are provided on the terms in section 8. We may change, suspend or discontinue it, or these terms, at any time. If we materially change these terms we will update the date above and, where practical, announce the change in the app. You may stop using the app at any time by erasing your data from the You tab and asking us to delete your account.

10. No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability or non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for loss of data, or for academic, disciplinary or legal consequences arising from your use of the app, your recordings, or generated content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the app (currently nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live may still apply.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lebanon, and the courts of Beirut have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules or courts of your country of residence.
